The 35 Best Basketball Players in the World, Right Now

1.  LeBron James:  Analysts and writers seem to be 50/50 on the LeBron/Kobe debate.  I pick LeBron.

2.  Kobe Bryant:  Probably one of the 10 greatest players ever.  And counting.

3.  Chris Paul:  Best point guard on the planet.  Does EVERYTHING for his team. Led league in asts/steals 2 years in a row.

4.  Dwyane Wade: Wade circa 2006 & 2009 makes you put him in LBJ and Kobe's class.  Gets to the rim at will.

5.  Dwight Howard:  Best center in the world.  5th player ever to lead league in rebs/blocks.  Only improving offensively.

6.  Tim Duncan:  Still the best power forward in the league.  Still gets 20 & 10 in his sleep.

7.  Brandon Roy:  3rd best shooting guard in the league, and one of the top closers.  Deadly mid-range game.

8.  Kevin Durant:  Yep, #8.  THE most underrated player in the NBA.  Had a monster year, and hardly anyone noticed.

9.  Deron Williams:  Terrific shooter, and underrated distributer too.  Great penetrator.

10.  Pau Gasol:  Only now is it revealed how good he is, because he no longer gets double teamed, like in Memphis.

11.  Carmelo Anthony:  Barkley says he the best pure scorer in the world.  Extremely versatile.  Very tough cover.

12.  Dirk Nowitzki:  Still carries the franchise, and can shoot with the best of 'em.

13.  Kevin Garnett:  His stats have dipped, but he makes up for it with defense and being the coach on the floor.

14.  Tony Parker:  Just had a big year.  Carried the Spurs offensively, at times.  Now a very good mid-range shooter.

15.  Al Jefferson:  Assuming the best after the ACL tear, he has awesome post moves.  Easily 22 and 11 every night.

16.  Paul Pierce:  Still one of the most lethal shooters in the league.  Huge in crunch time.

17.  Chris Bosh:  20 & 10, and still has room for improvement.  Very skilled offensively.

18.  Amare Stoudemire:  When motivated, he's higher on this list, but can still take over a game at times.

19.  Yao Ming:  When healthy, the 2nd best center in the world.  Pretty post moves.

20.  Danny Granger:  Came out of nowhere, and is now one of the best scorers in the league.

21.  Steve Nash:  Age and back problems are catching up, but he's still an unbelievable shooter, playmaker, and leader.

22.  Shaquille O'Neal:  Has actually been pretty healthy lately, and even at 37, teams basically have to double team him.

23.  Chauncey Billups:  Completely changed Denver's season.  Awesome leader and shooter.

24.  Ray Allen:  CLUTCH.  He's going to be the all time leader in 3 point field goals made soon enough.

25.  Carlos Boozer:  When motivated and healthy, he's a top flight power forward.  Great with both hands around the rim.

26.  Vince Carter: Had a great under the radar year.  Hit some game winners, stayed healthy, and good stats.

27.  Joe Johnson:  The key to the Hawks offense.  Scores well and gets everyone involved.  Phx should've kept him.

28.  Lamar Odom:  When he's on a sugar high, he can be one fo the most talented, versatile playmakers in the NBA.

29.  LaMarcus Aldridge:  His talent reminds me of a young Rasheed Wallace, without the anger issues.

30.  Hedo Turkoglu:  If he was just more athletic, he would be a superstar.  He can do it all.

31.  Kevin Martin:  Very underrated.  Once he steps in the gym, he's in range.  Reminds me of Reggie Miller.

32.  Caron Butler:  A strong, versatile guy who can score in a variety of ways.  Similar game to Carmelo's.

33.  Devin Harris:  One of the best pentrators in the league, and his jumpshot is improving.  Very quick.

34.  Manu Ginobili:  As long as his ankles are OK, he should be back to carving his way to the rim on a regular basis.

35.  Derrick Rose:  Simply electric.  So athletic and strong.  If he can ever develop a jumper, he'll be AMAZING.

Just missed the cut:  Emeka Okafor,  Baron Davis, Gerald Wallace, Marucs Camby, Jason Terry, Stephen Jackson, Richard Hamilton

Keywords: NBA, top players in the world
